Body piercing prices - what should you expect to pay for your piercing?

The cost of your body piercing will vary, as you might expect, but you should be careful not to spend all your time shopping for the best deal. It's much more important that you get the right body artist, the right studio, and, consequently, a quality piercing. The studio that undercuts its competition by using fewer gloves, less disinfectant, less experienced artists and (God forbid) the same needles is the one that could give you an unpleasant or life-threatening infection. Fortunately, a good proportion of piercing studios are kept responsible out of necessity: they don't want a lawsuit any more than you want an infection. Don't let your cousin's friend's cousin pierce you in his bathroom just to keep your wallet full, and don't use a professional studio you can't trust.

You can use the following prices as a very rough guideline of what you might reasonably expect to pay at a top-quality piercing studio. Lower prices do not necessarily indicate a lesser studio, but, again, high prices may reflect higher quality. Regional variations can come into play, especially where demand is concerned. A studio in a rural town with very little demand for piercing may have to charge more to stay afloat, so you may save money having the job done in a larger town or city. Prices will also depend upon what jewelry is included with your piercing. Titanium jewelry is more expensive than stainless steel, but more durable and even less prone to corrosion. Some piercing studios do not include starter jewelry in their cost. These prices represent the cost of jewelry as well as that of the actual piercing.

Hopefully, this guide will let you know what costs to expect from your visit to a piercing studio, but don't expect it to be foolproof. You should visit your studio before you are ready to begin the appointment, both to inspect it and make sure it's the studio you want and to get a precise list of costs from your body artist. Unlike tattoos, which are usually charged flexibly according to their complexity and the amount of time they may take, piercing fees are usually pre-determined. Speak with your body artist about the piercing you want and do some research of your own on the risks associated with your piercing, especially if it is intensive. Pictures of each style are available on the internet and, likely, from your piercing studio. Proper research and preparation can help you to decide precisely the piercing that is right for you.
